The architecture in Europe is so fascinating. Much of Germany was bombed during WWII but you can still see some old buildings and there have been several architectural treasures that have been amazingly re-built. This was a building in an Oriental style. I think it was a shop with apartments above, much like in any city.
Standing in front of the church where Bach played organ and wrote music. The man in the middle of the photo is Wolfgang Pleyer. When James was a junior in high school he spent a year in Gelnhausen, Germany as an exchange student living with the Pleyer family. So this is his "exchange brother". He has spent the past 15 years living in Leipzig so he was a wonderful tour guide. He was the one who showed us the restaurant with the unusual entrees (venison, goose, wild boar, etc.)

That is the best way to tour another country, with a friend who knows his way around!!! Glad you had such a wonderful time!!
