The day after our last day at school, the Pre-K 4 class had a field trip to our house. Susanne wanted to make cookies and a craft with them and it was easier to bring them here than to bring all of the stuff to the school. We wondered how the kids would react to this huge house. They didn't seem at all intimidated and were reasonably well-behaved. Russ drove to the school and brought 3 of them back. The rest rode with their teacher in a taxi. First they rolled out dough to cut out Christmas tree shapes which we baked while they ate the mid-morning snack they usually have at school. (Each child brings their own.) Then they made their snowmen ornaments after which they went down to the basement to play. (That's the middle picture.) Then they decorated the cooled cookies and while the icing hardened they went into the living room and played the chimes that we had taught them to play at school. After a rousing game of musical chairs, with one major melt-down over a disagreement as to who got the chair, they loaded back into the taxi and car and returned to school. We were greatly relieved that it all went as smoothly as it did in the time we had.
